Nithya V. Raman,
Director

I started working on the seeds that became Transparent Chennai way back in 2009, and am delighted that it has developed so much in the years that followed. I have a BA in political theory from Harvard University and a masters in urban planning from MIT. I have worked in India for nearly a decade, and have written extensively on urban planning and urban policies. I lead the project and I work on the slums and informal settlements team. Priti Narayan,

I work on slums and informal settlements at Transparent Chennai. I hold a Masters degree in Sociology from Columbia University and have a year’s experience reporting for The Hindu. I am passionate about working on urban poverty issues, especially participatory planning, informality, resettlement issues and planning for the poor.

I work on slums and informal settlements at Transparent Chennai. I graduated with a Masters in Global Environmental Change from King’s College London. I completed my internship at the National Housing Federation’s Neighbourhoods Green Project in London that focuses on creating strong and healthy communities and highlights the importance of green space.

I provide technological support to the TC team. Mapping is one of the most effective ways to communicate an idea. I convert the research done by the team into exciting and visually appealing maps. I have a Bachelors degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Satyarupa Shekhar,

I lead the work on electoral accountability and leverage my experience and interest in political governance in projects that I am involved in. I hold a Masters degree in Law and Economics and have worked at the World Social Forum 2004 and Democracy Connect, an organisation that provides information and research support elected representatives and other political actors.
Vinaya Padmanabhan,

I work on metropolitan governance in Chennai. I have a Masters degree in development studies from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. My research interests include issues like urban poverty and the politics of urbanization.
Kadambari Badami,

I lead the Walkability project, which aims to develop sustainable solutions to resolve pedestrian issues that plague the city. I believe that communities and local government must work together to create a well-planned and efficient urban environment that provides everyone with a good quality of life. I have a Masters in Urban Planning and Historic Preservation.
Lalitha Selvarajan,

I work on the Walkability project, dealing with pedestrian issues facing the city. I hold a Bachelors degree in Architecture from School Architecture and Planning, Anna University, Chennai and a Masters degree in Urban Building from Glasgow School of Art, Scotland. I have a year’s experience as a Project Architect for a design consultancy firm at Chennai. I am passionate about this city and so its betterment.
Roshan Toshniwal,

I have been involved in creating multiple layers on the transparent chennai website. My research at TC has been specific to public transport, pedestrian issues and heritage in the city. I am an architect- urban planner by training and the mix of data, mapping and research excites me.

I am part of the Walkability team and I hold a Masters degree in Social Work from Madras School of Social Work, Chennai. My interest areas include: sustainable urban development, community organization, participatory planning and development communication.

I work on the Walkability project, dealing with pedestrian issues facing the city. I hold an Integrated Masters degree in Development Studies from IIT Madras. I am passionate about working on issues related to urban transportation, especially conflicts regarding road space.
Avni Rastogi,

My work at TC relates to informal workers in municipal solid waste management. I have done my law from NLSIU, Bangalore and worked with the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. for two years in corporate affairs. I started working on waste related issues more by error than design, but I absolutely love the work that I do. It is important for me that TC allows me to do work that has the potential to effect change for the better.

I work on Informal waste workers and Municipal Solid Waste Management research at Transparent Chennai. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Stella Maris College and am interested in challenges in public policy formulation, urban governance and access to civic amenities.
Harsha Anantharaman,

I work with the Waste and informal workers team on areas that straddle the spheres of generating and supporting progressive waste management practices and documentation and inclusion of waste-pickers (aka ragpickers) in existing and future waste management systems in the city. My research interests include the economics and politics of waste and the history of waste-pickers and other communities that deal with/in waste in Indian cities. I have a Masters in History from the University of Delhi.

My work at TC relates to informal workers in municipal solid waste management. I hold a Masters of Philosophy in Social Work specialized in Human resource Management and Master Degree in Business Administration from Bharathidhasan University ,Thiruchirappalli. I am passionate about working on urban and rural poverty issues, especially participatory planning and development issues for the child and youth.

I work with TC as a part time advisor on its solid waste and informal workers campaign. I am associated with the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) as its India coordinator where I work on issues related to sustainable waste management including zero waste, informal sector inclusion, organics management and materials management.

I work with the Waste and informal workers team. I hold a BSc in Visual Communication and a Masters in Social work from Madras School of Social Work. I worked with Centre for Environment Education prior to joining TC. I am passionate about combining art and technology for sustainable development of the community.

I work with the Solid Waste Management and Informal Workers team in Transparent Chennai. I am a postgraduate in Social Work from Madras School of Social Work. I have worked with Centre for Environment Education in the past on a project for sustainable rural development. I am passionate about working for environment and livelihoods in both urban and rural settings.
