Interactive maps

Our map contains many layers of information about the city, such as about its administrative and political boundaries, about the people who run it, toilets, garbage, demographic information by ward about the city, slums and locations of recent evictions, and much more. To build your own map, click here, to see more information about the data in these layers click here, and to contribute data to an existing layer or to create another layer of information for the map, click here. Viewing multiple layers in the map at the same time can generate interesting insights about the city.

Note: on slow connections, your map may take a few seconds to appear. Please be patient! Clicking on particular features on each layer will give you more information about that feature.

Bus routes

We’ve built two searchable databases in the city of bus routes. One is based on our own fieldwork, which has seventy routes in the city mapped with all their stops. The other is a re-packaging of the Metropolitan Transport Corporation’s data to make it far more user-friendly, and has stage-by-stage data on ALL of the city’s bus routes. Each stage is approximately two kilometers apart. Just click on your origin and your destination to see all the routes connecting the two places!
