Transparent Chennai’s Director Nithya V. Raman was invited to speak at the University of California – Los Angeles at their Center for India and South Asia in November. She spoke about the problems with the information provided and collected by the city government on public toilets, and about the haphazard planning process used for constructing new toilets. She also discussed the extensive knowledge that junior engineers have about the city, and ways in which this knowledge can be harnessed for better planning.
